Mall vs. Tiangge
Shopping malls and flea markets or Christmas Bazaars ”tiangges” are now starting to get crowded. People are getting busy shopping for Christmas. Shopping at the tiangge is quite practical. Goods are cheaper and there’s also lot of varieties to choose from, though I’m not sure of the quality.
Shopping at the mall is quite more convenient for me, not to mention the aircontioned place. What I’ve noticed is that even the commodities at the mall is more expensive, you can still see long lines at the cashiers. Thanks to barcode scanner that the transactions become faster.
Who are the people buying at the mall? They are the average earners to rich customers. People who received gift certificates as bonus (they have no choice but to use it), people who uses credit cards (you can’t use it at tiangges) and people who have short patience in overcrowded place. But don’t take me wrong, you can see all types of crowd in tiangges, from richest to poorest. Because some of tiangges are class too (Greenhills for example), because I believe commodities there are of good qualities too.
How about you, where do you prefer to shop?
Pacman Did It Again
The first Boxing Athlete who won 7 titles in different weight division… That
is Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao! Manny made us Filipinos famous again after winning the fight against Miguel Cotto, the boxing champ of Puerto Rico. Manny arrived with a heroe’s welcome in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) together with his team and family. Inspite of the big amount that he is earning from it (I mean hundreds of thousands or even millions US dollars), Mommy Dionisia requested Manny (in tears and plead) to retire from boxing. Because she’s already worried that he get hurt seriously on the next fight. In my opinion, Mommy D was right! He already made a history and he won’t be forgotten anymore by sports enthusiasts all over the world. How about changing sports Manny? How about going to Myrtle beach golf and learn the craft? In this sports you can retire in old age without getting hurt. Right Mommy D?
I’m always at home whenever I watch Manny’s fights. But this time, I was able to experience to watch at the mall. I went to Robinson’s Metro East with my high school friend MetMet and discovered that they were airing the fight in a big screen thru a projector. We watched and became teary eyed whenever the crowd applauses and shouting for Manny. People now are expecting a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight. Do you think it will pushed through?

Ondoy – the Killer Typhoon chapter 2
From that time, I was so worried. I tried to call Gina’s cellphone but she didn’t answer, then called Vangie’s (neighbor) number and she confirmed me that the water level inside the house reached 3 feet already. But they managed to save some of our appliances like the component, bell tv and the computer. Then the rest are submerged in muddy water. I wanted to go home but can’t. First because I am watching my brother and secondly there’s no more means of transporation because the surrounding area was already flooded. There’s nothing I can do but PRAY…
Then suddenly, I heard noises outside the room knowing that residents in the area started to evacuate in the hospital. The Management of the hospital seemed to be hospitable enough to welcome all the evacuees. I salute them for that! I went out of the hospital and saw with my very own eyes the water from the river (brownish in color) were rushing up to J.P. Rizal St. where the hospital stands. In a few more minutes, the water got inside the institution. The evacuees went up to the second floor where my brother was. So can you imagine how the patients felt with the incident? Too bad huh?
At around 6 o’clock in the evening, the electricity went off. Ahhh can you picture what’s the scene that night? Dark, hot, noises and the evacuees are in and out of the room because they are using the room’s toilet. I went down to the ground floor and discovered that the water is already upto the knee level and luckily it stopped there. I went back to the room, laid my back at the bottom side of the bed and thought… This would be the longest night of my life…

Ondoy – the Killer Typhoon chapter 1
After over a month now, this is the only time that I’m gonna write about the killer typhoon Ondoy. It was September 26, 2009 morning at around 5:30 a.m. when I received a text from my sister-in-law asking me to take over her from watching my brother who was confined at Victoria’s Hospital in Marikina. Since the weather is calm and no trace that it would be a rainy day, I rushed to the hospital equipped with two MSI netbooks (my brother’s and mine) since I know I’ll be there for the whole day.
At around 9 o’clock in the morning, the rain started to pour. But it didn’t give anyone of us in the hospital worry that it would become a disaster since the rain is not that hard and there’s no gusty wind. At around one in the afternoon, I received a text from my cousin Amy telling me to go home because according to her our house is already submerged in flood. I replied with “Am I the one you are texting? It might be a mis send” because for the entire 6 years of living in Cainta Greenpark, Rizal there were never an instance of flood in my area. She replied back saying…. “Yes it’s you who I am texting, Gina and Sean (househelp and my son) already evacuated to your neighbor “, who happened to have a 2-storey house…

Another Title for Pacman
Manny and the Team Pacquiao headed to the United States of America few weeks ago to prepare for his fight against Miguel Cotto on November 15, 2009. Right now he’s in California for a rigid training with Coach Freddie Roach. I’m sure his Eagle Creek luggage was packed with luck when he left the country. He will try to snatch his 7th World Boxing Title from Cotto which is the Welterweight Champion.
I’m sure everybody will agree with me that Pacman is now very well-known not only here in the Philippines but all over the world especially with people who loves sports. As a matter of fact he is now in the cover of Time Magazine Asia which made him the first Asian Athlete to be the cover of the said magazine. He was titled the “The Great Hope” because he gives people hopes in life. He still can’t believe that he is now so famous when what he only wanted is to give his family a comfortable life. I salute you Manny for making us Filipinos proud. Mabuhay ka Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio! and Good luck to your coming fight, ”Pacquiao vs. Cotto, The Firepower”.
